Welcome to Digital Harmony
   
Digital Harmony began in the spring of 2007 when Tallahassee City Commissioner Andrew Gillum brought together a diverse team of individuals and organizations in order to provide new desktop computers to sixth graders at R. Frank Nims Middle School to be used in their homes. The goal of the project was to increase the opportunity for students to have access to technology where they could engage in extended connection to school-based Pearson Success Maker software and additional resources. This was accomplished by strong community partners, Pearson Success Maker software, and new computers to incoming sixth grade students at Nims Middle School. Comcast provides free high speed internet to the student’s homes. The students and their parents signed an agreement upon receipt of the computers that the students would complete a certain number of curriculum hours on dedicated software each week from the home computer.

Technical support for the project is provided by a student run call-support center facilitated and overseen by Florida State University’s College of Information and Communication. The call center provides live support to Digital Harmony students and parents daily during the school week. This support includes working with all software and connectivity issues, diagnosing hardware problems, repairing defective hardware in cases where the manufacturer warranty does not apply and serving as the intermediate to the manufacturer for factory defects.
